Rokt’star spotlight: Cerlyn Tan

As Rokt sets out to unleash its best year yet, we’re taking a moment to highlight some of the Rokt’stars that help their teams thrive by challenging the status quo and working in different ways. Read on to hear about their time at Rokt and what makes them tick both in and out of the office.

Meet Cerlyn

The theme of Women’s History Month is “Celebrating Women Who Tell Our Stories”. Tell us your story.

Not many people know this, but I was the first female Asian Rokt’star. There are many wonderful things at Rokt that keep me going. Rokt has given me many opportunities and  I’ve worked across multiple teams within Finance and even got to live in NYC! Over the years I’ve had a number of teammates and mentors who have supported me and believed in me.

Can you tell us more about your mentorship experiences at Rokt?

I’ve been fortunate to have had several mentors in my 9 years at Rokt. I’ve learned different things from each and every one of them. But most importantly, all my mentors have been authentic, and have always encouraged me to do things I didn’t think I could do. I hope I can be  half the mentor they were to me, for my current team.

Share 3 adjectives you would use to describe yourself in your own story.

Passionate, curious, love challenges.

What is your hope for the tech space becoming more inclusive as a whole?

That Southeast Asia would play a bigger part in it!

What do you like most about working at Rokt?

My mentors!

You have been at Rokt for nearly 10 years. Have you used your sabbatical? If so, where did you go?

I spent 2 months in the countryside of Europe doing absolutely nothing! I truly felt very rejuvenated and ready to come back to work.

What are some of your hobbies or passions outside of the office?

I am a belly dancer and also love working out at the gym.

What’s your favorite memory from your time at Rokt?

When we played “Roktball” here in Singapore! We used to play basketball weekly as a team. One day the basketball courts were taken and only the street soccer courts were available. Since we only had a basketball and not a football, we invented “Roktball”. It’s pretty much like handball but with a bunch of other tweaks and made up rules. It was a really fun day filled with laughter.

What Rokt core value do you most identify with?

Conquer New Frontiers – I love challenging myself and learning new things both at and outside of work!
